Sheila was deeply committed to social justice and activism. She actively studied various issues and fearlessly raised her voice against societal injustices.  She was a champion for the causes she believed in.  During her extensive travels, she seized opportunities to engage her writing skills in issues as broad as local communities affected by the Vietnam War and women's roles in Asia.  Her career and volunteer efforts centered around civil rights, the women’s movement, and digging deep into the Torah to explore women’s role in Hebrew text.
