Although born in New Orleans, the children of Jeremiah J. O’Keefe I and Alice Cahill O’Keefe were raised at 911 Porter Street in Ocean Springs, MS. Their first child, Edward Joseph O'Keefe died as a baby. John A. W. O’Keefe served as the Mayor of the City of Biloxi before resigning to become the Adjutant General of the Mississippi National Guard. Mary C. O’Keefe was superintendent of the City of Ocean Springs Public Schools and is memorialized at the Mary C. O’Keefe Arts and Cultural Center on Government Street. Jeremiah “Ben” O’Keefe II was a funeral home proprietor in Ocean Springs and Biloxi. J.H. “Jody” O’Keefe was a sugar chemist who lost his life in a diving accident while working in Cuba.
