Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.<br /> <br /> To fellow members of the Bill Smith family:<br /> <br /> Every freedom-loving American should be keenly interested in helping to reestablish and preserve the American way of life as bequeathed to us by our founding fathers and as set forth in the declaration of independence and our constitution with its bill of rights.<br /> <br /> Our Armed Forces fought and gave their lives for the preservation of individual freedom - - the one thing which will keep America American. Individual freedom is gradually slipping away from us. We must not lose it in some form or of national socialism. If we can continue much longer to allow a bureaucratic government to destroy economic freedom, regiment our daily lives and be masters instead of servant of the people, those “certain alienable rights“ which are ours by creation will be lost. If there be any doubt in anyone’s mind as to the dangers now threatening our Republican form of government, that doubt should be removed by reading a statement made by representative Hatton W. SUMNERS, Texas Democrat, who recently announced that he would not be a candidate for election to his 18th consecutive term in the house of representatives.<br /> <br /> Representative SUMNERS, in part, said: “by ignoring principles and the lessons of history, and excepting the theories of men and political expedience for our guidance, we have made , VASSALS of our states and dependents of our people. By concentration of governmental power and drafts upon the federal treasury, we now have a financially “busted“, great piled up mess of governmental confusion beyond human comprehension, impossible of democratic control, extravagant, wasteful, inefficient and by its nature the instrumentality of favoritism, tyranny, oppression and corruption, and the destroyer of the self – reliance and self-respect and governmental capacity of the people, qualities without which no people can remain free.“<br /> <br /> Other great Americans by the by the score have warned us against dictatorship, conceived more than a decade ago, when certain government leaders, aided by the communists and socialists, started the regimental march by stealthily tiptoeing towards the abandonment of government of the people, by the people and for the people.<br /> <br /> American communist or strong in steering positions in some labor organizations, farm organizations, governmental bureaus, educational organizations, colleges, schools, youth organizations, cooperatives, and many other organizations and groups like the American Labor Party and the C.I.O. In fact, there are more than 400 different communist organizations and other organizations with communist entrenched leader hip that are working as pressure groups and helping to enact much of the deficit spending, government controlled and bureau-creating programs as recommended by President Truman in his message to Congress on September 6, 1945. Many of the prominent leaders of the federal counsel of the churches of Christ in America, speaking as representatives of federal counsel which has a membership in excess of 25 million protestant church members in 150,000 local congregations in all parts of our country, are denouncing the private free enterprise system and advocate in an economic system similar to that advocated by Victor G. Reuther, a brother of Walter Reuther - newly elected president of the C.I.O. – United Automobile Workers. Mr. REUTHER recently said: “..... A new American progressive party must propose a pattern of social ownership that will serve to break the controls of monopoly capitalism. And the forms of social ownership it does propose to institute must, in the fashion of the cooperatives and the T.V.A., be absolutely democratic in character.“<br /> <br /> Mr. Louis Budenzs, for years an official of the communist party, and editor of its mouthpiece, “The Daily Worker“, and who embraced religion when he gave up communism has stated that the Communist Party in the United States is a direct arm of the Soviet government. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI, at the annual convention of the American Legion on September 30, 1946.<br /> <br /> After highly praising the American legion for its great force for good and the fact that it is living testimony to the Spirit of America Mr. Hoover stated today there is a greater need than ever before for the American Legion and it stabilizing force your help is needed now more than during the war years if the battle for a safe and secure America is to be one.<br /> <br /> Mr. Hoover was referring to communism as our nations number one growing Minnis. He stated that communism has penetrated some of our churches schools colleges and fraternal orders not with the approval of the rank and file but in spite of them.<br /> <br /> Mr. Hoover stated that the communist and their so-called progressive and liberal allies have maneuver themselves into positions were a few communist control the destiny of hundreds who are either willing to be led or have been duped into obeying the dictates of others. These church leaders are in favor of an organized and democratic partnership for the general welfare rather than a competitive struggle for individual and group advantage. Current communist goals<br /> The 45 current communist goals listed below appeared in the Congressional record of January 10, 1963. They were taken from the naked communist by W. CLEON skousen who began his extensive study of communism during his 16 year term of service with the federal Bureau of investigation. Mr. SKOUSEN is now field director of the American security council.<br /> <br /> One. US acceptance of coexistence of the old as the only alternative to atomic war.<br /> Two. US willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.<br /> Three. Develop the illusion that totaled his arm it by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.<br /> Four. Permit free trade between all nations regardless of communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.<br /> Five. Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.<br /> Six provide American age all nations regardless of communist denomination.<br /> Seven grant recognition of red China. Admission of red China to let you in.<br /> Eight. Set up east and west Germany as separate states in spite of Krushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the Germany question by free elections under supervision of the UN.<br /> Nine. Prolong the conference is to ban atomic tests because the US has agreed to suspend test as long as negotiations are in progress.<br /> 10. Allow also be at satellites individual representation in the UN.<br /> Promote you in as the only hope for me and kind. If it’s charter is rewritten demand that it be set up as a one world government with its own independent Armed Forces. Some communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the UN as by Moscow sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.<br /> Number 12 resist any attempt to outlaw the communist party.<br /> 13. Do away with all loyalty us.<br /> 14. Continue giving Russia access to the US patent office.<br /> 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.<br /> 16. Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.<br /> 17. Get control of the schools use them as transmission belts for socialism and current communistic propaganda. Soften the curriculums get control of teachers associations put the party line in textbooks.<br /> 18. Gain control of all student newspapers.<br /> 19. Use student rights to foment public pride protests against programs or organizations which are under communist attack.<br /> 20. Infiltrate the press. Control of book review assignments, editorial writing policymaking positions.<br /> 21 gain control of key positions in radio TV and motion pictures.<br /> 20 to continue discrediting American culture about grading all forms of artistic expression. An American communist cell was told to eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings substitute shapeless awkward and meaningless forms.<br /> 23 control art critics and directors of art museums. Our plan is to promote ugliness repulsive meaningless art<br /> 24 illuminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them censorship and a violation of free speech and Free Press.<br /> 25 break down cultural standards of morality promoting pornography and obscenity in books magazines motion pictures radio and TV.<br /> 26 present homosexuality degeneracy and promiscuity as normal natural healthy.<br /> 27 infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with social religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize a need for intellectual maturity which does not need a religious crutch.<br /> 28 eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of separation of church and state.<br /> 29 discredit the American Constitution by calling it in adequate old fashion out of step with modern needs a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.<br /> <br /> 30 discredit the American founding fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who have no concern for the common man.<br /> 31 Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teachings of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the big picture. Give more emphasis to Russian history since the communist took over.<br /> 30 to support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture education social agencies welfare programs mental health clinics etc.<br /> 33 illuminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the communist apparatus<br /> 34 eliminate the House committee on un-American activities<br /> 35 discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI<br /> 36 infiltrate and gain control of more union<br /> 37 infiltrate and gain control of big business<br /> <br /> 38 transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrist can understand or treat<br /> 39 dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose communist goals.<br /> 40 discredit the family as an institution encourage promiscuity and easy divorce<br /> 41 emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents attribute prejudice is mental blocks and retarding of children to suppress of influence of parents<br /> 42 Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition that students in special interest group should rise up and use united force to solve economic political or social problems<br /> 43 overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self government<br /> 44 internationalize the Panama Canal<br /> 45 repeal the Connally reservation of the US cannot prevent the world court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems give the world court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike<br /> <br /> This is a public service of patriotic American youth PO Box 363, Jackson, MS
